Each year a guide comes along beckoning me to notice that they wish to teach me something new and this year it was Turtle. It has been this way for a few years and while some teachers were obvious, there are others that make it increasingly challenging to be sure until the very last moment. Turtle was beautifully present mid to late 2022 to let me know that 2023 would have belly to the ground lessons that were important to grasp.
Belly to the Ground
Turtle taught me a lot about the shells we wear and what we call home. However, Turtle taught me more about how being grounded (or at least belly to it) allows a steadiness for connecting deeply to the ecology we are nested within and intuit with great clarity the direction or path to take.
Steadiness
Much of life, or the living of it, has been transformed into a type of all or nothing approach. We either do something all the way or we don’t do it. The way we define ‘all or nothing’ may have variations, but it doesn’t allow for the spectrum of in between. From this location to the next and all of the living that is the journey between those two spaces. Turtle says live and listen. We can be here and be on a journey at the same time, we can pivot better if we are listening. We can prioritize better, we can make decisions with greater clarity and direction. However, the steadiness of our connection to self and the world around us while we are living determines the depth of connection overall.
Connecting Deeply
Finding our place within the world, our desire to ripple, the calling to it, and the vibrations we receive allow us to discern or intuit better. Turtle has a unique capability and a unique sensory function, where it can really understand the nature of its environment through subtle shifts that occur. This unique sense allows Turtle to understand which direction it needs to go in, and it can shift appropriately.
What better way to have such an understanding than to be belly to the ground right?
I felt like the message was “be belly to the ground”. It coerced me to listen, feel into it and interpret the language of my environment and the places that I need to be able to shift accordingly. Not only was the message challenging but it was surprising to interpret why that’s so necessary with the type of shifts we are collectively rising to meet.
Intuition from the Belly
It may have been quite telling that my outward expression through blog posts or new content has been slow to appear. It wasn’t without deep seated guilt that my focus was no longer solely on my own lessons and sharing them. Intuitively it became about movement through connecting differently. In fact, it became about connecting with others that are working to create impact and find a way to bridge the gap between all of them. From Dark Goddess Collective to the NOLA 8, The Lunar Hearth Cauldron to Howling Baubo, The Liminal Star to the local Moonfest – our collective moments matter. They ripple. Turtle was an amazing catalyst for how we rise to meet the moments in 2024 woven together, bridging the gaps, steady, and belly to the ground.
