Our Sacred Days

There is something unique that happens when we review the traditions and rituals we connect with, especially when those traditions are not tied up in historical practice. They aren’t tied up in historical practice because they are sacred to us. Instead of just seeing the notification pop up on social media from “this day 10 years ago”, we can integrate them as a part of our yearly rituals.

What Constitutes “Sacred”?

Many people have different definitions of sacred. They may call it holy, but the fact remains to hold something sacred is to honor it in its entirety. There are many ways that we do this already when we think of solar returns of people in our lives, or dates which have drastically changed us, and we look at those moments as initiations. There is a clear point of who we were before that moment, and who we became after that moment.

Can you think of any days, even the ones that remind you of grief, that should truly be considered sacred?

To Remember & To Celebrate

Whether it is a day of remembrance or a day of celebration, when we pause to honor the days that are sacred to us we acknowledge that life and its journey has touched us or moved us in some way. It is a nod to the universe of the ripple created through time and space that have impacted us on such a level that we deem it holy and sacred.

Some of the days that could be worth reviewing or meaningful are:

• Initiation Dates

• Decision Dates (dates that you had to make tough decisions)

• Friendship Dates

• Divorce Dates

• Move Dates

• Gotcha Dates for Animals

• Therapy turning point dates

• Death Dates

Add these into the calendar and then think about what traditions or rituals you already hold for these or could hold for them.
