It is New Year’s Eve, the last day of 2024 in the Gregorian calendar, and this liminal space is often potent. The potency of 2024 goes deeper still, as the Moon is in its dark/new phase.
The Dark Moon or New Moon is a space of endings and beginnings, much like the New Year!
The beauty of this moment is the ability to look over 2024 while simultaneously looking forward (albeit apprehensively) to 2025. I still hold a lot of hope for 2025, but today I am reviewing the deeper lessons of 2024 with Squirrel and “ease”.
Lessons with Squirrel
I spent majority of this year pivoting like a squirrel, and no, it was not with ease! It was this lack of ease that made me realize a deeper resonance with being at ease in my discomfort.
Being uncomfortable made me prioritize better, slow down, and it brought forward clarity in my life and in my magic.
It brought forward a deeper connection to myself and my sphere of influence much like squirrel: aware of my surroundings, aware of my own needs, and the requirement to shift accordingly to avoid (most of the time) oncoming traffic.
Adjusting to New Versions of Self
2024 left me changed in ways I’m still adjusting to. This blog has been dormant for six months because my priorities shifted in the ever changing landscape of life. From natural disasters and an adult child moving home to deaths of family members, furkids, and relationships:
There was a necessity to analyze where I felt empowered and where I needed to devote additional energy in this world that often takes more than it gives.
Perhaps you can relate.
Perhaps you, too, saw yourself shape shift, do hard things, or stand your ground in ways that left you wondering who you actually are.
Magic of The Moment
As we each meet this moment, I want you to know that it can be a catalyst or a key to ceremoniously open the door to a 2025 where we recognize our individual and collective power.
We can shapeshift.
We can learn.
We can grow.
You can be empowered.
You can step into the cycle of becoming.

Below you will find resources on how to create your own New Year Ritual! Sending you blessings for 2025!
Release Containers
Supplies:
- Paper
- Writing Utensil
- Scissors
- Empty toilet paper rolls
- Scrap paper or tissue
- Herbs or Oils that speak to you
- Any art supplies you may like to use to create sigils or color magic!
Directions:
- Start jotting down what you intend to release on the paper, cut them into strips and fold them up.
- Get an empty toilet paper roll, fold one end closed (use the scrap paper or tissue on the inside to catch anything so it doesn’t fall out of the bottom!).
- Add your intentions into the toilet paper roll container and add herbs or oils that call to you. Speak to them and ask them to help your intentions to release be sent off.
- Close the end of the toilet paper and your Release Container is well on its way.
Get creative – add sigils on the outside, use color magic, sit it on an altar surrounded by salt and stones to prepare for the release in advance. YOU create the magic here, the rest is collaborative support through the connections you have built with the energetic forces in your life thus far.
At a time of your choosing, you can bury or burn your Release Container!
